new josh makes me want old josh

SO I was really excited that Josh (Josh Groban if you really didn't know) had a new album out. Of course I picked it up the first day....actually my supervisor is a fellow grobanite and she left work to go to hastings so she could be there when they opened. Hastings didn't even have the CD's out of box yet!!  My boss returns and I try to listen to the CD at work....but the stupid computer doesn't work!!  I finally get an oppurtunity at lunch and on the way home and.....I.........really......don't like it that much.  It is ok and he sounds great but the sounds are just weird.  I like that he can change but it is just too weird.  I will just cycle through it but it isn't something that I will go like I do with Closer, Awake, and his first cd.

Uncle Kracker & Luke Bryan

I love the fair.  That means cheap concerts.  By cheap I mean free!!  Who doesn't love free?  Kara and I went to 2 concerts last night.  First act was Uncle Kracker.  He was really great.  He played all my favorite songs of his (aka the ones on the radio).  I haven't purchased an Uncle Kracker cd but now I have to because he has good songs that aren't on radio.  Here are his highlights.

I was most excited to see Luke Bryan.  I have his first album and LLLOOOVVEE IT!!  I have been meaning to buy his 2nd but just haven't gotten around to it yet.  He is really cute and a great performer.  I loved how Luke Bryan incorporated Enter Sandman (by Metallica) and Shine (by Collective Soul) into a couple of his songs.  It was fun to dance (as close as we can down on the floor being smushed together like sardines).  It was pretty interesting because 1 group of kids was removed by security, 2 girls got into a scuffle, and 2 guys nearly got into it.  We evertually moved up another 6 ft to get closer to the stage.  I have a ballon with someons signature on it.  I need to google their autographs to figure out who it is.  I think it is Uncle Kracker but not sure.  It was a great time all around and my ears are still ringing.  I decided that I need to go to a concert every 6 months to keep my sanity.  Last concert before this was Gary Allan in December.  I am not counting the Steve Miller Band because that was just a sit in the grass type and didn't have the loud bass that interupted your heart beat and I couldn't sing along with anything.   Here are the highlights for Luke Bryan:

Traveling to Trace

I enjoy Trace Atkins.  His music is great and I rooted for him on Celebrity Apprentince.  Months ago, we heard that he would be in Jackpot for a concert.  The original idea was to go with parents and my sisters.  Well life happened and it ended up being me and parents.  Mom and Dad were going to be coming from Idaho Falls.  They had been at the Idaho State Republican Convention for the past week.  I had made arrangments to meet them in Twin Falls and we would all ride to Jackpot together.  We have lunch at Gerties Brickonven Pizza.  They have all you can eat pizza and dessert pizza.  It was good but not as good as I remember.  Oh well.  We head to Jackpot and get settled in the Horshoe Hotel.  I get ready for concert and off we go to the casino.  I play the penny slots while waiting for the concert.  Mom had a book to read so she stood in line.  We had general admission tickets so we could sit anywhere in the blechers.  Where Mom got was pretty good for $40 a ticket.  Mom and Dad got free tickets through the casino.  From what I remember, Trace played "Sometimes You Gotta Kick A Little A$$", Chrome, Honky tonk badonkadonk, Brown Chicken Brown Cow, a couple new songs, Swing, Your Gonna Miss This, Hot Momma.  There were a few others but I can't remember.  He did play Arlington.  I prefer it live than recorded.  Both Mom and I got teary as he sang it.
So the top left pictures if of Trace walking to the stage to open.
top right is of Trace leaving the encore (love the hair blowing in the breeze).
Middle pic of me and you can see Trace in the shadows in the middle of stage.
Some residents found a great way to see the concert without paying price of ticket.
Mom and Dad enjoying the concert.

Trace, Trace and more Trace.

Memorial Day..

While you are at the BBQs, and picnics that are typical this weekend, please remember WHY we HAVE this weekend! It is set aside so we may remember everyone who has sacrificied themselves so we may remain in a country were we have all the freedoms we have. The holiday isn't about the Presidents, the Wars, or the politics...it is about the men and women who are/were willing to be more couragous then we/me. I thank each and every veteran and their families for being better than me.

And because I love Trace Adkins and he is such a patriot, here is another song. Here is hoping that we may all live in peace one day:

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Til The Last Shots Fired...

See lyrics here.  Thank you Mom for reminding me of this song.  No words can describe how it makes me feel.  I will post more tomorrow

What a FEELING!!

At first I was dreading tonight.  I didn't have anything to do.  No child to watch, no meeting to be at, no shopping to do.  I did have one appointment but I was done by 530 and made it home by 600 so that is still ok.  But I did much of nothing.  I had dinner and watched the news.  I played with TJ and got online.  I finished my parents Valentine and played with TJ.  I watched a little TV and now I am supposed to be working on my lesson but was distracted by facebook.

But TJ is sleeping at my feet.  Thank heavens for Pandora because I have found a new artist. Well not just found but developing a better apprecaition for his music.  Jim Brickman (and other artists on the radio station).  What talent.  The piano will always put you in the right frame of mind for planning a lesson.  His music is just lovely!!  Anyhoo..I am propped up in bed, kickikng myself for not sleeping.  Dad is calling me at 530am to get me out of bed so I can start working out.  I just can't get out of bed by myself.  No matter where I set the alarm I still just hit snooze and fall back into bed.  But hopefully with Dad's help the next couple of weeks, I can eventually do it on my own.

But I just have peace in my heart now.  I am worried about a few things but nothing drastic.  I would be REALLY worried if I didn't worry of something.  But yesterday I had a great experience.  I was babysitting Wyatt.  We were sitting down to have dinner.  I started to say the prayer.  I admit I am laxadaysical (spelling wrong but who cares...if you care, you need a life more than I do)...but as I was saying.  I am not big of prayer prayers.  Most my prayers are like conversations in my head. I start talking and act like I am talking to my earthly Dad.  I know I need to be more formal in my personal prayers but my philosphy is as long as it is sincere, there are many ways to pray.

But back to dinner prayer.  I was just falling into the normal "food" prayer (thank you for the food, bless hands prepare, give us strenght, etc etc).  I started off with expressing gratitude for the weather and the things we have.  During those moments while I was talking out loud, I felt such  warmth spread through me.  I know it was the Holy Ghost testifying to me that They (Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ) truly care what I think and how I am feeling.  HF and JC were expressing....their thanks for my thanks if that makes any sense.  But I nearly cried at the table.

What comfort it is to know that we are being listened too!!  What a feeling of LOVE!! A new resolve is to go about life with this feeling continuously. (insert random thought...with new editor/posting options there is no spell check. wonder when they will get that added).  With the holiday of love approaching we are always looking to the love we express on this earth. Have we ever considered the ultimate declaration of love?  That Jesus suffered in Gethsemane and hung on the cross because He loved us so?  I know I am completely guilty of being self centered and throwing pity parties for not having a "valentine".  I know that no "valentine" would ever being willing to sacrifice anything close to what the Savior suffered.  Also think of what Heavenly Father had to bear.  Seeing His son bleed from every pore.  BTW for us mortals to bleed from one pore...wrap a string around the joint of a finger.  See if it turns blue.  You will pass out because of the pain before you see a single drop of blood.  That is how much pain He suffered.  Could you stand by and watch your child suffer?  And when Christ was hanging on the cross?  How could you not have rushed to intervine?  I doubt that there is a place in the universe where Heavenly Father could go to avoid seeing/hearing those events.

But HF and JC knew it had to happen.  Somone needed to atone for the sins, pain, guilt, suffereing, anger, lonliness, and heartache that would be felt in this world.  I recently realized that Jesus didnt just suffere for my sins.  He also bore the heartache, the physical afflicitions and impurities, the anger, loniless, pride, and desolation that we feel.  He suffered ALL!!    Because He suffered we will be able to live with him.  I think of the song by Mercy Me I Can Only Imagine..

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By your side
.................
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When your face
Is before me
I can only imagine
...............
[Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in honour of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
................
I can only imagine
When that day comes
When I find myself
Standing in the Son

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
...........
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you

I love that song.  I think it is the most accurate description how what I will be thinking/doing/saying at the time of the 2nd Coming.  I can only imagine what a happy day that will be.  It is scary to think sometimes we may get caught unaware.  There are the little things we didn't prepare for.  The pride, greed, little daily sins we have let fall by the wayside.  Being impatient with our children and families.  Not loving our enemy (or customers because I really hate our customers right now...hello if I could control the weather there would never be any snow on any road in the United States)..BUT as long as we try to do our best and prepare the best we can, Christ has allowed away for us to return to Heavenly Father.  We just need to make sure the Atonement plays and active roll in our lives.  I know I have let so many things prevent me from using the Atonement as it was truly designed to be used but no more.  I will be better at it.  I will be so blessed by it. We are all blessed by the Atonement and should be ever thankful for the oppurtunity to use it.  I love my Heavenly Father and my older brother Jesus Christ.  I am so appreciative of the plan that has been designed so I can return to live with them in glory.  I am excited for that day (not that I am going to die soon but think about it.  How can you not be excited to see Them and to have a perfect knowledge and to know you will live eternally?  It is an exciting even if you think about it!!)

PS when I say we..I mean me.  I am only speaking for myself and if you get something from this, that makes me feel wonderful.  But I am just putting it out there as a reminder to myself and to keep a rememberence of these thoughts and feelings. Links to lyrics  link to youtube video

I cried...

I have been in a very cry-e mood lately. I start to listen to Christmas music...I cry. Check status on facebook....I cry. I don't know what is wrong with me. Correction. I do know what is wrong with me. Let me try to explain....

CHRISTMAS MUSIC
I learned from a coworker the other day, a local radio station is starting to play Christmas music. I both like/hate it. Like it because I love Christmas music. Hate it because we still have Thanksgiving!! There is a holiday between Halloween and Christmas. I decided I should compose a Thankstgiving Day song and have it played on the radio and become a millionarie. Nice dream, right? I have been listening to the Christmas music because it puts me in a good mood. Working in customer service (for the past 7 years), things like Christmas music is neccesary to keep yourself sane. While listening to Christmas music, my train of thought is naturally directed toward Jesus, our Saviour. It is His birth we are celebrating. And thinking of His birth, eventually leads me to His death.

The other night TJ and I were driving home from my parents house when we heard a great song. I don't know who sings it or the name. It is about a litle girl named Maria who finds a bird with a broken wing on the side of the road. She spends her last peso buying a cage for the bird. Well it the "night of gifts" and everyone leaves a gift at the manager. Because she bought the cage, she doens't have anything to give besides the bird. She waits til midnight and takes the bird in and leaves it. She is crying because she feels her gift is unworth. She hears the voice of the Saviour and He request to hear the song. The song continues on but while driving my thoughts were directed to a talk I gave a few years ago around Christmas. What we can "gift" to the Jesus is ourselves. All He asks is that we keep the commandments and live righteously so we can return to Him and our Heavenly Father. Jesus isn't interested in gold, murph, birds, toys. His focus is to direct us back. I started thinking of how I could improve. I also was thinking of how poorly I have been doing and if I should really put forth the effort to improve. I was comforted through the Holy Ghost. I was told that I wsa loved and that the Atonement is always available. Christ loves us so much that He sacrificed Himself for us. I cannot comprehend that type of love. I am just so very thankful that I am loved and have the oppurtunity to repent. By the way, the Atonement is applicable for EVERYONE!! We all have the oppurtunity to repent and wipe the slate clean. I am not a real "churchey" person but lately I have been more focues on the Saviour than I normally am. I am not vocal about my feelings about Church but I have recently felt the need to express it.

GUESS WHAT!?!

Guess what?!?! Eric Church is coming to town!! He is a country singer and one of my favorites. He is going to be in town on Thursday Dec 3 (which is just a few days before Gary Allan on Dec 7th! Why couldn't Eric Church open for Gary Allan? That would be perfect!)

So I am headed to another concert!! I saw Church in concert at the Canyon County Fair 2yrs ago and he actually sounds good live. Now do I buy general admission ticket or go for the big sky seats? decisions, decisions..

me and michael....

On Saturday, I watched Oprah (from Friday) on my sisters Tivo (Thank you Chris for saving this for me). On Oprah, Mr Michael Buble was on. He has broken my heart because he has a new girlfriend :( But my heart was slightly healed when I learned he had a new ablum out. The previous post is the first single of the new CD Crazy Love.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new song!! Can we say "new theme song"? It is completely describes how I have been feeling about about being single. I have been amazed about how I have been ok with being single lately. I again credit it to all the empowering things I have been doing (fix flat, put together desk, actually use proper tools, etc). While in Seattle I was talking with wise man by the name of Steven. I was telling him how I used to look for someone to replace my father. Two things wrong with that. 1) Dad is too great to replace. No man is as good as my Dad is. 2) Instead of wanting someone to "take care" of me, I need to find someone who compliments my personality but not afraid to be different and challenge me. Dad and I are very similar. I have proven I can take care of myself. I don't need that (but yes I would like that. Who doens't want to be taken care of occassionally?).

But thanks to Mom and Dad for teaching me so much!! Thanks for the shoulders to cry on and the love and understanding you demonstrate everyday. Thank you for making me feel loved, needed, and wanted. I love you and glad that you are my parents.

My favorites lines are:

I'm not surprised.
Not everything lasts.
I've broken my heart so many times I stopped keeping track.
Talk myself in.
I talk myself out.
I get all worked up, then I let myself down.

I tried so very hard not to lose it.
I came up with a million excuses.
I thought I thought of every possibility.
And I know someday that it'll all turn out.
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And promise you, kid, that I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.

Mmmm...

I might have to wait.
I'll never give up.
I guess it's half timing,
And the other half's luck.
Wherever you are.
Whenever it's right.
You'll come out of nowhere and into my life.

I just haven't met you yet..

And I know that we can be so amazing.
And baby your love is gonna change me.
And now I can see every possibility.

Mmmm...

But somehow I know that it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, that I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.

They say all's fair.
And in love and war.
But I won't need to fight it.
We'll get it right and,
We'll be united.

And I know that we can be so amazing.
And being in your life is gonna change me.
And now I can see every single possibility, mmmm.

And someday I know it'll all turn out.
And I'll work to work it out.
Promise you, kid, I'll give more than I get,
Than I get, than I get, than I get.

Ohhh!

You know it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, that I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.

I just haven't met you yet.

Ohh, promise you, kid, to give so much than I get.

(I said love, love, love, love...)

I just haven't met you yet

what a wonderful world...

This has been a great weekend. The highlight of the weekend was learning Michael Buble has a new album out called Crazy Love. Wal Mart didn't have it when I made a midnight run but Hasting here I come tomorrow on my 1st break.

Friday was awesome because I won a free pair of jeans. I then went to dinner at Jana's house and had taco's. After taco's, we went to the pumpkin patch again. This time it was with Emma and Wyatt. Once we were finished with the patch, Caitlyn and I went to Applebees for happy hour. If you ever need a quick snack, Applebees has 1/2 price appetizers from 3-6 and 9-11. You can make a meal of their appetizers. My favorite is the spinach dip and now their chili cheese nachos.

Saturday morning, I picked up a pine bedframe that I need to sand and repaint. It currently has just a finish on it and needs an update. I will paint it cream and use gold accents to match my dresser. I also got a corner desk to put in my craft room. It is totally awesome. I have everything organized and it looks so much bettter than a bunch of boxes and bags sitting on the floor. I will post pictures once my battery is charges.

After making the run to Boise, it was off to Lexy's house for a jewlery party. After the party, I babysat Emma while Caitlyn had to work. The weather on Saturday was a repeat of Friday afternoon. Just lovely. I finally got to watch Supernatural. After Caitlyn got home, it was another run to Lexy's house because she has Supernatural on Tivo. Thank heavens for sisters who love me and have Tivo.

Sunday was a lazy morning. I did some scrapframing (similar to a scrapbook page but it is in a picture frame instead). I skipped church. I just wanted a relaxing morning and that is what I got. I did some landary while scraping. I then headed over to parents house to make soup and attempt homemade bread. When we had the crappy weather, I thought how good it would be to come home to hot soup and hot homemade bread. Today that finally got fulfilled.

I have seen my mom make bread a hundred times but it still intimidating to me. But with her occassionally looking over my shoulder, I got it made. It will have to be a Saturday at home project but I will do it more often.

So homemade soup was delicious. I invited over family who enjoyed it. Below you will see the fruits of my labors. Making it myself brought back memories of Mom making it when I was younger. Instead of covering it in seran wrap, she would drap a towel over it. We would than use an electric knife to cut it. Those were good days.....like today!

As always, Marlee and Emma were being silly (Jana and Wyatt went to Beth's house for dinner). I caught a couple of cute pics with my dad's camera (the one I covet a Nikon D50..it is awesome.) I love these two little girls!!

Marlee is now walking and is having fun.

Emma no longer just smiles for the camera. She has to ham it up.

HE IS COMING!!

So the other day I received confirmation that Gary Allan will be coming to town on December 6th, 2009 at the Taco Bell Arena!! I will be purchasing tickets tomorrow!! SO EXCITED!! I love his music and lust after his body!! December will not come quick enough!!

I HAVE IT IN MY HANDS!!

So on my break this morning, I ran over to Hastings and go the new Breaking Benjamin ablum entitled Dear Agony. They have already released 1 song call I Will Not Bow and I love it!! But it is Breaking Ben so why wouldn't I love it!! It sucks because the CD player in my computer at work is broken and they wont fix it. So I am stuck sitting here looking at the album just wishing I could hear it. At lunch I am headed straight to my car and sitting there for the 30 minutes listening to the ablum. Thankfully I will be at my parents tonight so it will be a definate add to the mp3 player for the flight. Did I mention that I am flying to Seattle tomorrow? I am SO EXCITED!!

all by my lonesome, I was lonesome

I have found an old MP3 player the other day. I put in a new battery and started to listen to what music I had. I last listened to this MP3 player when I lived on Juanita in Boise which was 2 years ago (OMG!! How time is flying!!). There are songs that I am still listening too (like Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Gary Allan) but there are some bands I hadn't listened to in awhile. Like Our Lady Peace, Within Temptation, ALL Breaking Ben albums, Evanescence, and Incubus just to name a few. This got me thinking about what I was doing at that time. I had a group of friends and lived with best friend. I thought life couldn't get better. I loved my apartment, roommate was great, work was ok (and will always be just ok until I am independently wealthy), family was awesome, what more could I need?

I was annoyed with some friends. It seemed that I was always arranging everything. If someone was having a birthday, I would be the to organize the party/bbq, or if we wanted to go out, I would get the tickets. I would pay for tickets out of pocket and expected to be reimbursed. Did that every happen? Not really. I was slowly getting fed up with it all. They woudl all dump emotional baggage on me, but when I tried to offload some of my own, who would listen? No one. I slowly started pulling away until I just stopped answering their calls. I know that sounds cold but I tried talking but never got responses. So I ended it.

So the group of friends was no longer there. That was ok. I still had my family and the best friend. Now I know what the group of friends felt like. The best friend slowly pulled from me.
I am listening to these songs (especially Breaking Ben, Within Temp, Panic @ Disco, etc) and thinking of the times that we were playing Halo or Baldors Gate and having a great time. Or the runs to Jack in the Box becasue neither one of us wanted to cook dinner. Or the time we made bathroom brownies (not like they sound. We couldn't turn on a light in the kitchen becasue that would have given away that someone was home and we were hiding from some people. So we took all the ingredients itno bathroom and use the water/light in there).

There was the Holy Day of Thursday for Supernatural. Last night while watching the premiere all by my lonesome, I was lonesome and wished I could go back to the apartment on Juanita. I understand that people change. I have changed. I just wished I could still have that particular friend.

Breaking Ben!!

"Yells”
Now The dark begins to rise, save your breath it’s far from over
Leave the lost and dead behind, now’s your chance to run for cover
I don’t want to change the world, I just want to leave it colder
Light the fuse and burn it up, take the path that leads to nowhere
All is lost again, but I’m not giving in
I Will Not Bow, I Will Not Break
I Will shove the world away
I will not fall, I will not fade
I will take your breath away

“yells”

Watch the end from dying eyes, now the dark is taking over
Show me where forever diesTake the fall and run to heaven
All is lost again but I’m not giving in
I will not bow, I will not break
I will shove the world away
I will not fall, I will not fade
I will take your breath away
And I’ll survive, paranoid I have lost the will to change
And I am not proud, cold blooded fate
I will shove the world away

“yells”

I will not bow, I will not break
I will shove the world away
I will not fall, I will not fade
I will take your breath away
And I’ll survive, paranoid
I have lost the will to change
And I am not proud, cold blooded fate
I will shove the world away

OMG!!! GARY ALLAN IS COMING!!!

Ok..so it isn't the most reliable source (it is another blog) but they linked to his website (which I cant access from work) so as soon as I can, I am giong to garyallan.com to verify. But according to the blog, it will be on December 6th in the Taco Bell Areana. This is on Sunday. The day I am coming back from vacation. Good thing I already had Monday 12/7 off!!! Who is excited?! ME!!!So I just have to drive myself to SLC and be back in time for the concert!!! This would be the third time I have seen him in concert. I was going to go down to Jackpot to see him but it was just too expensive. I will post my own pics of him when I am at my parents next. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Gary Allan (if you had any doubts)..
